Alive After Five started in October with a centrally managed campaign which has already seen over one million social media impressions in the first month. 64,000 flyers have been distributed. Advertising and direct marketing has created a combined circulation impact of 3.6m.

BID manager Diane Jarvis said:”We hope all businesses in the city centre are taking advantage of the opportunities our marketing campaign offers to them.

“Businesses please make sure you tweet @SheffAfter5 and make the best use of to promote your offers and events.

“Alive After Five is all about closing the gap between what’s available in Sheffield City Centre during the daytime and evening to develop a vibrant early evening economy that increases the number of people visiting our shops, bars, restaurants, leisure and entertainment venues – and, ultimately, increases spending by both existing and new visitors after 5pm.”

In response to Alive After Five, Sheffield City Council has reduced its parking fees after 4.30pm throughout the week. There’s more info on the city council website link here. Plus, from 2pm on Saturdays 10th, 17th and 24th December 2016 its free to park in these car parks!

Get involved and keep up-to-date

In the City Centre, there is already a great programme of events, fashion showcases, special discounts, demonstrations, style experts, pampering sessions, family activities as well as delicious dining and entertainment offers.

To get the message out, the BID’s social media team are on the street every Thursday between 5pm and 7pm. From ale trails to makeup masterclasses they stream live content to thousands of smart phone users.

We’re also using a series of short videos to grab people’s attention. Check out the secret filming spreading festive cheer!
