Experience Sheffield City Centre transforms for World Book Day
Sheffield BID’s new pop-up space has been transformed into a world of imagination in honour of World Book Day, featuring a live product guide full of literary inspiration.
Next to the Winter Garden on Surrey Street, Unit 1 acts a live city guide, transforming to celebrate different seasons and events throughout the year. Its super-sized shopping bag is filled with products from city centre retailers to encourage visitors to explore Sheffield’s shops.
In honour of World Book Day, a worldwide celebration of books and reading marked in more than 100 countries all over the world, Sheffield BID has filled the super-sized shopping bags with all things literary from the likes of WH Smith, Waterstones and TK Maxx.
From childhood classics The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Winnie the Pooh and Jungle Book to some of the year’s bestsellers, the Unit’s super -sized shopping bags features books along side tote bags, mugs and toys. With the transformation happening just before the half-term break it is hoped that parents will be inspired by products that will get their little ones reading and using their imaginations.
For families visiting the city centre this half-term, there is even a chance for one lucky family to win the contents of the shopping bag by entering our draw in the Unit by 4pm on Thursday 7 March. See the full list of products, worth more than £150.
Diane Jarvis, Sheffield BID Manager, said: “Following the success of our Valentine’s Day pop-up, which inspired romantic purchases in the city centre, we have transformed Unit 1 to celebrate the spring, whilst our live city guide is promoting all things World Book Day.
“We invite parents and their children to pop in and enter our giveaway to win the contents of the shopping bag, which contains some fantastic products from city centre retailers. If something really takes your fancy, all products are available to buy in Sheffield city centre.”
Unit 1 promotes hospitality, shopping and events in Sheffield city centre as part of Sheffield BID’s commitment to increasing customers and encouraging spend on the high street. Throughout the year the space will take on a different theme, promoting places to visit, eat and shop with each changeover.
Future themes for Unit 1 in 2019 include Mother’s Day, Easter, Bricktropolis, Halloween, and, of course, Christmas. City centre businesses which pay into the BID Levy are invited to use the pop-up to promote products, offers and events that are suitable for each theme.
