Families will be able to take part in a free, interactive adventure that will take them across Sheffield city centre this Christmas as Brearley Bear returns for another family-friendly activity, Brearley Bear’s Christmas Collectibles.
Christmas Collectibles is free for all families to take part and will see participants tracking down a series of cards – the Collectibles – from a variety of city centre businesses. There are 30 characters to find, including the special Brearley card, with 28 city centre businesses acting as Collectible card hosts.
Brearley Bear’s Christmas Collectibles is organised by Sheffield BID whose events include Sheffield Bricktropolis and the Sheffield Christmas Trail. These events typically see thousands of families visiting the city centre to take part.
Diane Jarvis, Head of Business Operations at Sheffield BID, said: “We’ve taken a slightly different approach for Brearley’s latest quest, developing on the success of our previous Brearley events. As a result, we’ve been able to get even more city centre businesses involved this year.
“As with all our seasonal events, Brearley Bear’s Christmas Collectibles will encourage families to visit the city centre over the Christmas and New Year period to take part in a fun, family-friendly activity. These kinds of events are great for families of course, but they provide a helpful boost to both footfall and dwell time for our city centre businesses.
“We know that visitor trails and similar experiences are a fantastic way to encourage people to explore more of the city centre, visiting areas that they may not usually get to see.”
Brearley Bear was first introduced to Sheffield in November 2018, when Sheffield BID introduced the Sheffield Christmas Trail to the city’s festive events calendar. The character returns throughout the year for a number of family events organised by Sheffield BID.
Brearley Bear’s Christmas Collectibles is the mascot’s tenth outing. Brearley Bear’s Christmas Collectibles takes place from Saturday 25 November 2023 through to Sunday 7 January 2024.
